The Vision That
Transformed a Hill
Vision — 1988
An Overnight Prayer That Changed Everything
In 1988, Daniel Alamsjah — a young man from Jakarta — received a vision to build House of Prayer for All Nations after praying all night on a hill in Magelang, Central Java.
The vision came long before he knew exactly where it was. His faith led his steps — from Jakarta, across hundreds of kilometers, until he arrived in Gombong Village, Kembanglimus, in a corner of the city of Borobudur.
“Becoming a House of Prayer for All Nations.” — Daniel Alamsjah’s Vision, 1988
Development — 1992
Friday Night on the Dawn Train
Construction began in 1992. But the early days were a tremendous struggle. Daniel worked as a private employee in Jakarta — and for more than 10 years, he goes through the same routine every week:
Friday night on the Jakarta–Purworejo dawn train. Saturday and Sunday monitoring development in Magelang. Sunday afternoon back to Jakarta. Monday morning back to work.
Challenge after challenge came and went. But Daniel continues to hold on to one belief: that God will complete every vision He has given.
God’s Power — Expanding
From House of Prayer to Ecosystem
At the age of more than 70 years, God continues to give Daniel health and strength. From Bukit Rhema, he went further — establishing Bethesda Rehabilitation Home not far from the location, to serve those struggling with drugs, mental disorders, juvenile delinquency and the occult.
Now Bukit Rhema is not just a house of prayer. It has developed into a living ecosystem — culinary, fashion, sports, agriculture, community empowerment — all rooted in the same vision: be salt and light to others.
